Terms of service
Last updated Oct. 22, 2026
These terms apply when you use the LexLift website, digest or brief pages. By subscribing or using them, you agree to these terms. They are written in plain English on purpose. Questions: lexliftai.llc@gmail.com.
1. What LexLift is
LexLift sends a daily email digest of new California Court of Appeal civil opinions, published and unpublished, grouped by practice area, with links to AI-drafted briefs of those opinions. It is a publication about public court decisions.
2. AI drafts, not legal advice
- Every brief is an AI-generated draft. It may contain errors or leave out important points, and a statement with no warning beside it can still be wrong. No lawyer reviews the briefs. LexLift’s founder, Tim, is not a lawyer.
- LexLift is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Using LexLift does not create an attorney-client relationship with anyone.
- You are responsible for checking anything you rely on against the opinion itself, and for your own professional judgment and obligations.
- LexLift is not a citator. It does not tell you whether an opinion is still good law. Publication and review status are shown “as of” a date and can be late or wrong. Unpublished opinions generally may not be cited (Cal. Rules of Court, rule 8.1115).
- LexLift aims to cover every new civil opinion in your areas, but sources can be incomplete and practice areas are tagged automatically. Don’t treat the digest as exhaustive research.
3. Plans, billing and cancellation
- Plans and prices are listed on the pricing section. Founding members keep their rate for as long as they stay subscribed.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Monthly plans renew each month and the Public Agency plan renews each year, until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime from the Stripe customer portal or by emailing us. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
- If we change a price for non-founding plans, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you.
4. Using the service
- Your subscription is for you, or for your firm or office under a Firm or Public Agency plan. Please don’t resell or republish the digest or briefs in bulk. Sharing an individual brief or quote with a colleague or client is fine.
- Do not send LexLift client information of any kind. See the Data & AI statement.
- Court opinions are public records. LexLift’s briefs, digest and pages are LexLift’s own work.
5. No warranty; limit of liability
LexLift is provided “as is.” We work hard to be accurate and on time, but we do not promise that briefs are correct or complete or that the digest will arrive every day. To the extent the law allows, LexLift is not liable for any loss arising from your use of or reliance on the service, and its total liability to you is limited to what you paid LexLift in the three months before the claim.
6. Other terms
- Our privacy policy and Data & AI statement explain how we handle data.
- We may update these terms; we’ll change the date above and email subscribers about any material change. Continuing to use LexLift after that means you accept the update.
- These terms are governed by California law.
